After 35 years with Citi, the last 11 as global head of securities services, Okan Pekin is leaving the bank. It is understood that he will take some time off and that he is not moving to a competitor. In the meantime, issuer services will report directly to Shahmir Khaliq, head of services, whilst a new head of investor services is identified.
Pekin’s impact cannot be overstated. He transformed every aspect of the business, from tech to ops to management and product. He will be a tough act to follow, and I wish him all the very best for whatever comes next. You can read more about his achievements here.
