HSBC supports EIB DLT bond issuance

HSBC has supported the launch of the European Investment Bank’s first bond under the Eurosystem’s exploratory work on new technologies for wholesale central bank money settlement. The EUR100m EIB bond was issued on the HSBC Orion digital assets platform in euros, under Luxembourg law, and settled using wholesale central bank digital currency on the Banque de France’s DL3S platform, demonstrating interoperability between DL3S and HSBC Orion. Investors are can access the digital bond on HSBC Orion in either the primary or secondary market through custody accounts held with BNP Paribas, HSBC, or J.P. Morgan. HSBC acted as lead book runner on the transaction.
