After more than five years at BNY Mellon, most recently as global head of securities services, Roman Regelman has decided to leave the firm to pursue other career opportunities.
Regelman was drafted into BNY Mellon by Charlie Scharf, then CEO, to oversee digital transformation of the bank, but it was soon clear that his talents went far beyond that remit. He gradually acquired broader responsibilities, ultimately owning a portfolio of businesses that included asset servicing, corporate trust and depositary receipts. He brought in a new breed of highly skilled managers and changed the culture of not just his businesses but the bank itself. It isn’t yet clear whether BNY Mellon will try to directly replace him.
The leadership teams of the businesses Regelman currently oversees will remain unchanged:
Emily Portney will continue to lead Asset Servicing, now reporting to Robin Vince, CEO.
Caroline Butler will continue to lead Digital Assets, now reporting to Adam Vos, global head of markets.
Chris Kearns will continue to lead Depositary Receipts, now reporting to Jennifer Barker, global head of treasury services.
Marianna Lopert-Schaye will continue to lead the strategic partnerships & innovation (SPIN) team, now reporting to Alejandro Perez, chief administrative officer and interim chief people officer.
Cécile Nagel will continue to lead Corporate Trust, now reporting to Brian Ruane, global head of clearance and collateral management.
