In a move to “strengthen its UK client coverage”, Société Générale Securities Services has appointed Richard Davis as sales director and has extended the role of Steve Gutowski, the UK sales director, to cover financial institutions, broker/dealers, and banks. Both are based in London and report to Alessandro Cavallari, head of international sales at SGSS. Davis will be part of the international sales team within the coverage, marketing and solutions division (CMS), where his main focus will be on UK-based asset managers and asset owners.
SGSS said in a statement: “These appointments represent the business’ commitment and ambitions within the UK market”. However, this represents something of a volte-face from its 2021 decision to scale back in the UK, when it closed down its onshore fund administration business, losing several senior client-facing staff, including Matt Davey, who was head of CMS in the UK, and Sarbjit Panesar, who was global head of business development for the asset management sector.
