BNP Paribas Securities Services has appointed Iain Martin as head of New Zealand with effect from 1 October 2022. He is based in Wellington and reports to David Banks, the acting head of securities services Australia and New Zealand. Martin, who joined the bank in 2003, was most recently head of relationship management and sales for New Zealand. He will replace Doug Cameron, who will remain until the end of October to coordinate the handover, at which point he intends to leave the organisation after more than 20 years of service, having led the New Zealand business over the last eight years.
The BP2S franchise in New Zealand is the local market leader, serving a majority of the large KiwiSaver asset managers in the country. BP2S claims to be the only global custodian with a comprehensive onshore presence in Wellington and Auckland, and the first to offer NZX stock market clearing services, coming as a result of winning six new sub-custody clients in the region in the past 24 months.
